Welcome to Rants to Riches. I am setting up this blog to share tips and ideas on how to make money blogging, drawing on 15 years of experience making a living off the internet. This is an exciting project which I hope will flourish because the internet is so important in my life, not just as the sole source of income for me but a major part of my personal development.
Obviously, Rants to Riches is a play on the old expression Rags to Riches. I was searching for a suitable name for this site on Godaddy.com the other day and was so pleasant surprised that rantstoriches.com was still available. Not any more!
Ideally, since this is a blog about making money blogging, my domain should have the keywords that I am targeting, e.g. makemoneyblogging.com. But in this day and age where people hoard domain names in hopes of making a few bucks from them in the future, it’s a pretty long shot to acquire a clean, keyword-rich name without having to pay an arm and a leg for it.
A keyword-rich domain name is just one of the many factors to consider for search engine optimization. I think a catchy, memorable name like rantstoriches.com more than compensates for the absence of the targeted keywords.
